OUR CERTIFICATIONS
Our suppliers based in Central Java use some of the finest kiln-dried wood available for the furniture industry.
FSC is the most stringent certification procedure for forest harvesting. Founded in the 1990s by environmental and social groups, foresters, and landowners, the FSC offers consumers a rigorous, independent system for identifying products from ecologically, socially, and economically well-managed forests.
In addition to our Teak collection, we are very proud to offer a wide range of furniture made from Hevea wood. Momentum uses Hevea wood from managed plantations in Thailand. The wood is grown for between 15 and 20 years, and during that time the sap (latex) is extracted daily and used in the production of a huge range of products.
After 15 to 20 years the trees are then harvested for their timber as they no longer produce the Latex, the timber is then cut into usable lengths (1 to 1.3 metres) for making furniture, flooring, toys, kitchen utensils and many more every day items, any cuttings or waste wood is used to make charcoal and fuel and even the sawdust is used in the textile industry for colouring fabrics and making wood based panels such as particle board.
The obvious advantages of Hevea wood are its environmental friendliness, as the entire process is controlled and therefore has no impact on the environment. Our supplier alone employs over 300 local workers in their factory, offering locals a good wage and a skilled career in a safe environment. The wood is stained with a water-based dye to match other species such as mahogany, cherry, walnut, and oak.

At Momentum, we continuously collaborate with numerous reclaimed wood suppliers from India, China, Thailand, and Indonesia, focusing on recycling old wood. We recover wood from old furniture, doors, window frames—virtually anything that has outlived its natural lifespan. We then work with our skilled teams of carpenters and designers to incorporate new wood into the wood.
The result is a unique, handcrafted piece of furniture, completely unique in its design and the materials used in its construction. The overall effect is truly breathtaking. We also believe that a piece like this has a value that would not normally be found in a mass-produced new piece of furniture.
